""Alba Voronezh" plant has been opened in the SEZ "Center": the enterprise for 12 billion rubles will cover up to 25% of the demand of the Russian market for aluminum cans.

""Alba Voronezh" plant, a new high—tech production of aluminum containers for food industry enterprises, officially opened on Friday, September 11, on the territory of the special economic zone "Center" in the Novousmansky district of the Voronezh region. The start of the enterprise was given by Alexander Gusev, Governor of the Voronezh Region, Alexey Gordeev, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, and Ivan Chechushkov, General Director of the plant.

The project has become one of the most notable in the country's food packaging industry. The plant with an area of almost 50 thousand square meters (land area — 11.6 hectares) is equipped with high-speed equipment. The volume of investments in the enterprise exceeded 11-12 billion rubles, and the construction took only 11 months.

"It is very important for us that the plant will create new jobs and open up other prospects for the region's economy. Aluminum containers are a sought—after and environmentally friendly type of packaging that leaves, as they say now, a minimal carbon footprint," said Governor Alexander Gusev.

Key parameters of the new production:

  • Capacity — up to 4 thousand aluminum cans per minute and 1 billion pieces per year;
  • The company's warehouse holds up to 150 million cans;
  • Jobs — 200, the second stage of development is also provided;
  • Market share — at least 25% of Russia's demand for aluminum packaging;
  • Taxes — about 3 billion rubles to the regional budget over 10 years, over 1 billion to extra—budgetary funds.

The aluminum used in the production is suitable for repeated processing with virtually no loss of its properties, which makes the products environmentally friendly. "Alba Voronezh" will produce containers that are in high demand in the beer and alcohol industry. The plant will allow Russian beverage manufacturers to purchase cans not in China or Kazakhstan, but inside the country, enhancing commodity security.

"This is actually a robot factory: all production lines are fully automated. The investors built the company in just 11 months. We see how technologically organized not only the production itself, but also the working conditions are," said Alexei Gordeev, Vice Speaker of the State Duma.

""On the same day, a new "jar" filling line was launched in the Voronezh branch of Baltika. Investments in it amounted to almost 260 million rubles, the productivity of the new equipment is 40 thousand cans per hour. According to industry data, aluminum cans account for about a third of all containers used for bottling beer. The launch of the line was part of a large-scale modernization program for the plant, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.

"The new line is not only new production opportunities, but also a real contribution to the region's economy. Now we will be able to increase production in the required format and respond more quickly to consumer demand," said Dmitry Vizir, CEO of the brewing company.

Experts emphasize that the commissioning of the plant will strengthen the domestic supply chain of aluminum packaging, reduce the industry's dependence on imports and provide beverage manufacturers with modern domestic packaging. ""The authorities expect that the launch of Alba will give a new impetus to the metalworking sector in the region, and the "Center" SEZ itself will remain one of the most attractive industrial sites in the country — in the consolidated efficiency rating, it took the second place among 34 industrial production zones in Russia.
