The ALIUM plant in Obolensk launched a new granulation line with 150 kg per cycle, boosting output to 70 million packs a year.
ALIUM JSC, a drug manufacturer belonging to Binnopharm Group, has launched a new granulation line at its site in the village of Obolensk (Serpukhov urban district). The equipment is designed for loads of up to 150 kg per technological cycle, which noticeably raised the plant's overall productivity.
According to Igor Bespalov, head of the pharmaceutical plant's workshop, in just the first five months of 2026 the company shipped 22 million packs of finished dosage forms. Daily output now reaches 250 thousand packs, and by the end of the year the plant is heading toward 70 million packs.
'Production is impossible to imagine without modernization. Our lines are fully automated and equipped with digital control systems. This allows us to maintain high quality, ramp up volumes and develop the product portfolio,' emphasized Igor Bespalov.
The new granulation line, the company clarifies, will increase granulate output to 200 tonnes per year, and together with a new packaging machine will add another 15-20 million packs per year to current volumes. Binnopharm Group invests more than one billion rubles a year in its Moscow region assets.
Over the past five years, the Obolensk site's production portfolio has been expanded with more than 40 new names, and total output has grown by more than 40%. The plant's range includes products for treating gastrointestinal diseases, cardiovascular drugs, medicines for neurological disorders, antibiotics and other medications.
In parallel with production growth, the export direction is actively developing at the plant:
- Products are shipped to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Uzbekistan;
- One of the gastroenterological drugs is undergoing registration procedures to enter the Vietnamese and Chinese markets;
- In the first half of 2025, supplies to CIS countries grew by 40% — from 3.7 to 5.1 million packs.
Production expansion required stronger HR work. Today the plant employs 700 people. For new employees, including those without prior pharmaceutical experience, there is an adaptation and step-by-step training system. A 'Mentoring Academy' program has been launched to transfer professional skills, thanks to which the staff turnover rate at the plant has been halved.
ALIUM plant is one of the key assets of Binnopharm Group, which unites six production sites in different regions of Russia and is among the top 5 domestic producers of medicines. Ramping up capacity in Obolensk is part of the company's strategy to expand the output of vital drugs and strengthen its export potential.
