Neopac became the first European tub manufacturer to receive the RecyClass EN 15343 certification.

Pharma

Neopac, a global supplier of packaging and dispensers for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and oral care industries, has successfully passed the RecyClass EN 15343 audit of its manufacturing site in Debrecen, Hungary. Neopac is the first European manufacturer of tubes to receive this prestigious certificate, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainability principles and tracking recycled plastic content.

The European standard EN 15343, titled "Plastics — Recycled plastics — Traceability of plastic recycling and assessment of compliance and recycled content," outlines requirements for verifying traceability, recycled content, and quality compliance of recycled plastics. This standard has become critical for the entire supply chain of recycled plastic materials, ensuring products meet specific quality criteria and recycled content levels. EN 15343 establishes key principles, including traceability, which involves creating a monitoring system for the flow of certified recycled plastic materials throughout the entire production and logistics chain.

Additionally, the standard defines methods for compliance assessment, ensuring recycled plastics meet established consistency criteria for recycled content. It also provides guidelines for verifying recycled content, offering a foundation for measuring and certifying the proportion of recycled material in plastic products. This is a crucial step toward ensuring compliance and environmental labeling. By adhering to EN 15343, companies can enhance the sustainability and transparency of their use of recycled plastic, which is increasingly vital for meeting the demands of both regulatory bodies and consumers.

The Neopac plant in Debrecen specializes in producing various high-performance packaging solutions with recycled content, including Polyfoil® EcoPro tubes (30–50 mm in diameter) and extruded tubes (16–50 mm in diameter). With an annual production capacity of 480 million tubes, the Debrecen facility plays a key role in addressing global demand for eco-friendly packaging solutions.

As the EU continues to prioritize sustainable development through strategies such as a plastic tax and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) fees, Neopac is well-positioned to meet these evolving requirements, minimizing the environmental impact of its products.
