The St. Petersburg pharmaceutical company "VERTEX" allocated 80 million rubles for development in the quarter and is launching the tenth Alu-Alu blister line.
Pharmaceutical manufacturer "VERTEX" summed up the results of the first quarter of 2026 and announced the launch of a new blister-cardboard line operating using Alu-Alu technology (double-sided aluminum blisters). Over 80 million rubles were allocated for the development of the company in three months, and this particular line became a key investment project.
Over 75% of the quarterly investments were for the purchase of equipment, the rest for capital expenditures and research and development. The main acquisition was a line for the second workshop of medicines, designed for packaging tablets and capsules. For the company, this is the first production line of this type.
Unlike classic blisters using plastic, the Alu-Alu technology involves packaging in double—sided aluminum foil using the cold stamping method - the cells are created without heating. Such packaging provides absolute opacity, maximum tightness and reliable protection of drugs from light, moisture and oxygen.""This solution significantly increases the shelf life of medicines, simplifies their storage and logistics throughout the distribution chain,"" said George Pobelyansky, CEO of Vertex.
At the moment, the installation and strapping of equipment has been completed at the enterprise, acceptance tests and commissioning are underway. Commercial operation of the line will start before the end of the second quarter. The new line is designed to produce 15 new product lines, including drugs for the treatment of essential and arterial hypertension, type 2 diabetes, as well as antiviral and antithrombotic drugs.
Key facts about the project:
- The volume of investments in development for the quarter is more than 80 million rubles;
- More than 75% of the funds were allocated for the purchase of equipment;
- The introduced machine is the tenth blister line of the company and the first using Alu—Alu technology;
- It is planned to produce about 260 thousand packages by the end of 2026;
- The line will provide production of 15 new product line items.
It is noted that the machine put into operation has become the tenth blister line of the company — the remaining nine use the classic technology of soldering foil with PVC or PVDC. In total, the "Vertex" production complex has more than 30 packing, bottling and labeling lines located in four workshops and at the site of dietary supplements.
The launch of the Alu-Alu line strengthens the company's position in the highly secure packaging segment and expands the portfolio of drugs in demand in the treatment of socially significant diseases.
