In Russia, the volume of pharmaceutical product purchases from the USA fell to the level of 2004 for the period from January to November of last year, reports RIA Novosti.

American pharmaceutical products were supplied to the tune of $13.2 million, which is three times less than in 2023. These calculations were published by the American statistical agency.

As a result, over the eleven months of last year, the import of medicines into Russia returned to the levels seen twenty years ago. For comparison: from January to November 2004, the volume of imports of pharmaceutical products from the USA to Russia amounted to $12.3 million. Last year, Russia ranked 56th on the American list of major buyers. Among the countries that actively purchased medications from the USA, the United Kingdom stood out (12% of the total export volume in monetary terms), followed by Canada and Spain (each with 11%), and Japan (10%).

In January 2025, a new national project "New Technologies for Health Preservation" was launched in Russia. The programs of this project will increase domestic production of vital medicines to 90% and medical devices to 40%. The year 2024 marked a positive trend. Over five months, the level of production of medicines and medical materials increased by 8%.

Russia is actively expanding the geography of its exports of pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and technologies. Deliveries are made to more than 160 countries worldwide. Domestic manufacturers are actively entering the markets of Latin American, Asian, and African countries.
