Austria's ALPLA unveiled a patented metal-free polypropylene foam pump dispenser for cosmetics.
Austrian packaging manufacturer ALPLA has expanded its portfolio of products for personal care and pharma with a patented foam pump dispenser featuring a twistlock mechanism. The key feature is that it contains no metal components and is made entirely of polypropylene.
In standard configuration the dispenser weighs just 25 grams, saving transport and shelf costs thanks to the twistlock function. The solution already meets future regulatory requirements related to packaging recyclability in the EU.
"The dispenser is the most important point of contact with the product. We always strive to create better solutions for people and the environment. With our monomaterial packaging dispenser we are expanding technical capabilities and helping major brands achieve their sustainability goals," emphasized Michael Feltes, Managing Director of ALPLAinject.
The monomaterial polypropylene construction simplifies recycling and promotes the circular economy across national markets. Key facts about the new product:
- the system fits bottles of various volumes and is available in a standard version;
- it allows a wide range of modifications — customers can choose the color and shape of the head and cap;
- it reduces environmental impact through the use of recycled plastics.
Notably, ALPLA has already offered monomaterial dispensers in several variants. The new development continues this direction: the complete absence of metal parts makes the product suitable for recycling in a single stream.
The product will premiere at Beautyworld Middle East 2026, held October 6-8 in Dubai. ALPLAinject, ALPLA's injection molding division, will showcase the new item to cosmetics and personal care brands.
For the cosmetics packaging market, this is another step away from multi-component solutions toward monomaterials — a trend driven by stricter recycling requirements and consumer demand for sustainability.
