Glaspray has created a reusable bottle of monomaterial for cosmetics

The manufacturer of cosmetic packaging Glaspray presented a patented innovation in the field of reusable packaging — a one-piece bottle with a dispenser made entirely of PET monomaterial (PET). This is a step towards solving one of the main problems of the packaging industry — the difficulty of separating dissimilar plastics during processing.

Unlike the previous design, which was a combination of ABS, PP, PE and PBT materials, the new bottle consists entirely of one material. Using a single polymer eliminates the need to separate components from different plastics, which was previously a key obstacle in recycling processes.

"PET is one of the most widely recyclable plastics in the world, and the new bottle design does not require the use of glue, which often complicates recycling or makes components difficult to recycle."

The design of the novelty is universal and allows you to use the bottle in several formats at once:

  • Cream dispenser — airless or atmospheric;
  • Mist sprayer — for perfume waters and toners;
  • Reusable system — with a replaceable internal cartridge.

The key feature of the development is that it is not just recyclable, but originally designed for reuse. The system includes an internal replaceable cartridge, while maintaining a durable external case. This allows consumers to repeatedly fill and use the same bottle, reducing the demand for single-use packaging and overall consumption of materials.

PET monomaterial designs also optimize production processes. Without the need for complex assembly of multiple materials and adhesives, the production cycle consumes less energy and generates fewer harmful emissions.

The new packaging supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12 — responsible consumption and production by promoting reusable, fully recyclable packaging and reducing waste.

The development of Glaspray is part of a large—scale trend in the beauty industry towards "green" packaging, when environmental friendliness ceases to be a marketing option and becomes a mandatory requirement of both legislation and large retailers and consumers themselves.
