Tver-based TD Freeman has launched an automated laminated tube packaging line and expanded microtube output for cosmetics.
Tver-based laminated tube manufacturer TD Freeman commissioned a new automated finished-product packaging line in July 2026. For the cosmetics industry, this means not only faster shipments but also a wider range: the company has mastered microtubes with a long cannula nozzle for serums, creams and gels, as well as 22 mm tubes with octagonal caps.
The new equipment was purchased under the MSP Leasing programme with support from the targeted financing department of the Tver Region Industrial Development Fund (FRP). The company received more than RUB 9.3 million for this purpose.
Automating the packaging area will increase line productivity by up to 20%. According to the company, the launch is another stage in the modernisation of production rather than a one-off move.
“We continue to invest in modern equipment, automation and the development of production competencies. Our task is to constantly improve production efficiency and offer customers reliable, modern packaging solutions,” TD Freeman notes.
The company produces laminated tubes with a volume of 2 to 250 ml and a diameter of 14 to 50 mm. It manufactures and fills about 250,000 tubes per day. Products are supplied throughout Russia and to CIS countries.
Key changes in the production programme:
- launch of microtubes with a long nozzle (cannula) for cosmetic serums, creams and gels, as well as pharmaceuticals and ointments;
- start of production of 22 mm laminated tubes with octagonal “washer” caps for personal care products;
- with support from the Tver Region FRP, equipment was purchased for 35 mm tubes with a volume of 70–150 ml;
- capacity for the 35 mm format after launch reached at least 2 million units per month.
Before the modernisation, the company had already increased productivity for the most in-demand formats — 14 mm and 22 mm tubes. These diameters are most often used for compact cosmetic products: samples, serums, eye creams and lip products.
| Format | Purpose | Capacity / features |
|---|---|---|
| Microtube with cannula | Serums, creams, gels, ointments | Precise application |
| 22 mm with “washer” cap | Personal care products | Ergonomic closure |
| 35 mm, 70–150 ml | Cosmetics, pharma, household chemicals | At least 2 million units per month |
Among the company’s partners are Librederm, Splat and Makheev. This shows that the Tver site works not only in the contract market but also with major Russian brands that value stable supplies and predictable print quality.
For the cosmetic packaging market, the launch also matters because the laminated tube remains one of the most in-demand formats for skincare. It is lighter than glass, does not break in transit, allows up to eight colours of printing and provides a barrier for active formulas. Localising tube production reduces Russian brands’ dependence on imports from China and Europe.
TD Freeman is one of Russia’s leading laminated tube manufacturers. According to the Tver Region FRP, the company is among the industry leaders and supplies customers throughout Russia and the CIS. The new automated packaging line should not only speed up shipments but also reduce manual operations.
For cosmetic manufacturers, this means shorter order lead times and the ability to update packaging design more often without lengthy changeovers. Amid the growth of the Russian cosmetics market and active localisation of production, such capacity is becoming critical for launching new brands.
